“there is a vitality, a life force , an energy, that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost.” ~ Martha Graham

Whether you are interested in Pre-Natal Nutrition, Using a Doula for Labor, Breastfeeding Basics, the Home Birth Option, and more. Jessica can come to your home and offer classes on various topics. Many times a couple will hire her to teach them one or two sessions on basic childbirth education and preparation, the stages of labor, comfort measures for labor, what to know about various interventions, how to advocate for a natural birth in a medical setting, and more. These classes are fully customizable and can also be offered in group settings. Ask for more details.
Jessica has taken two of her passions—yoga and stand up paddling—to create an experience unlike any other. From the first time she hopped onto a paddleboard 5 years ago, she began experimenting with yoga postures on the board. To her, a practitioner and teacher of yoga for 20 years, it seemed like a completely natural thing to do. Stand up paddling and yoga have a lot in common, including the clarity of mind and the full-body workout they both provide. Through Jessica’s experimentation and improvisation (and willingness to get wet), SUP YOGA was created.
In these fusion classes, small groups set out on the SUP boards, paddling across a sheltered part of the bay, like Hand’s Creek Harbor or Maidstone Harbor. The location changes depending on conditions. After warming up with a gentle paddle, the yoga class begins. Lasting between 45 minutes to an hour, and including full vinyasa sequences, Bellofatto even gets students up into advanced yoga postures like headstand and full wheel if they’re ready for it, though experience isn’t necessary.
Yoga and stand-up paddling go hand in hand because they both “take you right into the moment,” says Jessica. “They also require concentration, breath, relaxation, a sense of adventure, a sense of humor, and the ability to surrender to something much bigger than yourself.” In some ways, SUP can teach the lessons of yoga in a more pointed manner, because the ocean can be unforgiving and real.
“Paddling in the ocean,” says Bellofatto, “you are at the mercy of that. On the one hand, you need to be brave… On the other, there is an extreme sense of humility… and huge surrender.”
The yoga practice requires that same balance of strength and softness, but when you’re out in the elements, maintaining that balance is all the more urgent. So whether you are an avid stand up paddler, an avid yogi, or both, check out these classes guaranteed to challenge you, as well as to put a smile on your face. A slice of heaven on earth, indeed.

SUP YOGA: Yoga Classes on the Stand Up Paddleboard!
Led by one of the pioneers in the country, Jessica Bellofatto, on the only floating studio of its kind in the Hamptons, these classes combine traditional yoga postures with the added fun of floating on a stand up paddleboard (SUP) in flat water! All classes include a quick paddle lesson for newbies, a short warm up paddle, and then we will attach to our anchor system for a sweet yoga experience unlike any other. Designed for all levels, you will be guided through an intelligently designed sequence of postures strengthening and lengthening all of the major muscle groups, opening up the breath, quieting the mind, and moving into greater alignment with ourselves and the natural beauty that surrounds us out on the water.
Most of our SUP YOGA classes take place at the Paddle Diva Center, located at the Shagwong Marina at 219 Three Mile Harbor Rd in East Hampton. From East Hampton: Get on North Main Street, and take Three Mile Harbor Road about four miles and you will see the blue sign for the Shagwong Marina and Paddle Diva on your left. If you see a pink truck on the right hand side of the road for the Pig Pen Produce Farm Stand, you went too far. Please note that if you plug in 219 Three Mile Harbor Road, you will first come to a plain white Mail Box, this is not the marina, do not turn down that driveway. Please continue north about 1 1/4 miles, you will see the water (which is the start of Three Mile Harbor) on your left, the street numbers RESET at the water and 219 will come up on your left when you reach the Marina! We also paddle at Georgica Pond, Sagg Pond, or a location of your choice for private sessions.
SUNSET, STARGAZING, and FULL MOON Paddles with Yoga and Meditation
Our evening paddles will take place during that magical time as the sun sets and the moon rises in the summer sky. We will paddle across Accabonac Harbor as a group, and then return to the beach and anchor to our floating Yoga studio (the only one of its kind in the Hamptons!), where Jessica will guide you through ‘moon salutations’ and a sweet evening yoga practice on the boards, followed by a short meditation. We will then return to the beach for some refreshments. Unlike anything you have ever done before, this paddle will awaken your senses and is guaranteed to be a highlight of your summer season!

SUP Yoga Teacher Training
This course will assume a certain amount of proficiency as both paddlers and yoga teachers. Ideally you are either a 200 hour RYT teacher through Yoga Alliance or plan on becoming one. In addition, you must be CPR and first aid certified or planning on taking the courses. The WPA Level 1 Instructor Certification is recommended but not required. After completing the course, you will be eligible for CEU’s through YOGA ALLIANCE.
Jessica Bellofatto: Jessica has been teaching Yoga for the past 20 years and paddling for the last six. She is also a mother of three amazing children, ages 13, 9 and 1, a doula, surfer, triathlete, and SUP racer. She became WPA certified as a SUP instructor in the spring of 2012, as well as a certified stillwater lifeguard (ocean coming soon; she plans to train and take the test this summer). Jessica also owns a Yoga studio in East Hampton, NY called KamaDeva Yoga and has been running her own studio for the past 15 years. She considers herself first and foremost a yoga teacher, but when she began practicing yoga postures on a paddleboard about 6 years ago and started teaching SUP YOGA six years ago, she was hooked. She found it to be an amazing combination of all the things she loves the most. Jessica is stoked to share this with you all and spread the SUP YOGA craze! She is also an ambassador for Boga Yoga Paddleboards, who will be providing boards for the training.
Gina Bradley: Formerly a fitness instructor, wind-surfing teacher, and PADI certified Scuba Instructor, she has a real passion for SUP and knew that this was a trend that was about to really catch on for women. Motivated by her love for the sport, Gina began her SUP business by teaching women in East Hampton and listening to what they wanted from the sport. What resulted almost immediately was the creation of the Diva board, a women’s stand-up paddle board that has been custom built by Nature Shapes for women only. Gina offers not only this custom-made board, but also SUP instruction, SUP tours, ocean awareness coaching, SUP surf lessons, and kids SUP lessons. Gina lives in East Hampton, NY with her husband Scott and divides her time between there and Rincon, Puerto Rico with her two children, Emma (9 years) and James (6 years), always in tow!
Tuition: The cost of the training is $900. A non-refundable $300 deposit is required to confirm your space on this course. The balance is due four weeks prior to the course.
